Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Liability Underwriter to join our team in Belgium. In this role, you will be responsible for underwriting large and complex liability risks, with a focus on providing tailored insurance solutions for our clients. Your expertise will help assess, evaluate, and manage a diverse portfolio of large-scale corporate risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Underwriting large liability risks: Evaluate, assess, and manage large and complex liability risks for major corporate clients, ensuring accurate risk selection and pricing.
- Risk analysis and assessment: Perform in-depth analyses of legal, technical, and financial information to make informed underwriting decisions.
- Client relationship management: Work closely with brokers, clients, and partners to provide tailored risk solutions and maintain long-term relationships.
- Portfolio management: Develop and maintain a profitable book of business, continuously monitoring market trends and emerging risks.
- Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams including claims, legal, and risk management to enhance underwriting performance and deliver comprehensive solutions.
- Compliance and reporting: Ensure all underwriting activities adhere to internal guidelines, local regulations, and compliance standards.
- Market research and development: Stay updated on market developments, competitor activities, and emerging liability trends to identify new business opportunities.
Required Qualifications:
- Languages: Fluent in Dutch and English (French is an asset).
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in liability underwriting, with a focus on large or complex risks.
- Industry knowledge: Strong understanding of liability products, legal liability frameworks, and regulatory environments in Belgium and Europe.
- Analytical skills: Ability to assess complex risk data and provide sound underwriting decisions.
- Communication: Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and brokers.
- Problem-solving: Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and make sound decisions under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with large multinational clients or in an international setting.
- Strong network within the Belgian and European insurance market.
- Professional insurance certifications (e.g., CII, CPCU) are a plus.
